| How to force your android mobile to check for system update Posted: 29 Dec 2010 03:00 AM PST I know it's very frustrating when your mobiles claim there's nothing to update but you have read somewhere that your mobiles suppose to get an update. This could be because of a lag between when your phone checks in to see if it's available and when a carrier makes an update available. By dialing *#*#checkin#*#* you will get your phone into the queue right away (substitutes letters with the dial pad numbers - refer the picture above). This trick doesn't necessarily work for everyone, but there are many success reports with the recent Nexus S bug fixes and Droid Eris update. |
| Redsn0w 0.9.7b4 includes USBMuxd and Windows Version in Beta 5 Posted: 28 Dec 2010 09:01 AM PST This is a quick post on the progress of Redsn0w 0.9.7 beta series. Redsn0w 0.9.7 beta 1 was released a couple days ago which brings new light to iPhone users who are waiting for untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1. Up until Redsn0w 0.9.7 beta 3 there is still no sign of beta release for Windows platform. While in beta testing some testers reported about usbmuxd problem. Even though there are a few hiccups along the way, iPhone Dev Team is working their butt off to ensure that iPhone fans will get the public release soon. According to the new tweet, new beta will be released (i.e. Redsn0w 0.9.7b4 will incorporates usbmuxd) and it also confirmed that the next beta (Redsn0w 0.9.7b5) will include Windows platform as well.

| [Jailbreak Tweak] RetinaPad Enables Retina Display for iPhone Apps on iPad Posted: 28 Dec 2010 08:16 AM PST RetinaPad is a very useful tweak for iPad users because the iPad can run iPhone apps in compatibility mode. The only problem is when an iPhone app is magnified up to 2x mode, the graphics become jagged and fuzzy. This holds true even if the iPhone app is Retina Display ready. The pixelated image is not good especially to Apple's products that always known for its prestige. RetinaPad fixes this problem. It works like a charm on any application that has Retina Display ready graphics. Before you can use this tweak, you need to make sure that your iDevice is already jailbroken. From jailbroken iDevice, you need to access Cydia and install RetinaPad. Once the installation is completed, launch your iPhone app and tap on it twice. You'll notice that the app looks clean. RetinaPad is available in Cydia Store at $2.99 via BigBoss repository. [via] |
