How to clear / delete files and folders history from Windows 7 Explorer

Posted: 16 Feb 2011 04:51 AM PST

Windows Explorer is without a doubt the central piece of Windows 7 operating system. Windows explorer allows Windows users to search content in their PCs. You may notice that Windows Explorer keeps a record of all search activities you do and the folder and files you have accessed in Windows 7. This means other users can snoop applications you run, files you accessed and virtually every search you perform within Windows Explorer.

The auto-complete search is handy but not everyone enjoy this feature. If you want to clear up history in Windows Explorer, here is how you should do it.

1. With Windows Explorer opened, move your cursor onto address bar. Right click on it when it's not in focus

2. From context menu that appears, click on Delete history. Now all history in the Windows Explorer 7 has been deleted.

That's it.

Secure your Google account with advanced 2-steps sign-in security

Posted: 15 Feb 2011 04:04 PM PST

Google has recently introduced an advanced 2-steps sign-in security for all products that are related to Google accounts. This new addition of security measure is really a good move and I'm sure many people who rely much on the power of Google free products are very much pleased with this feature.

2-step verification is very much similar to security used for online banking where it requires two independent factors for authentication: your password and a code obtained from your phone. If you pay a visit at Account Settings page, you will notice the following thing.

Once the 2-step verification is enabled, you'll see an extra page that asking for a code when you are about to sign in to your Google account. After entering your password, Google will attempt to call you and send you with the code, send you an SMS message or you can also generate the code for yourself using a mobile app on your Android, iPhone or BlackBerry device. Now it's really up to you whether you want to use it or not.

[How to] disable Auto Sleep mode in Windows 7

Posted: 15 Feb 2011 03:41 PM PST

Auto Sleep mode in Windows 7 is a great feature that can put your PC into some sort of hibernate mode (less power consumption) and you can resume almost instantly from the point you stop. This feature comes handy to those who are away from their computers and leave them idle for quite some time. Unfortunately, this feature is a nuisance to some of us who need the PCs not to be in the sleep mode. By default the Auto Sleep mode in Windows 7 is set to be on after 10 minutes.

How to disable Auto Sleep mode in Windows 7?

1. Type in "power option" in the search box from start menu button. Select "Power Options"

2. Power Options windows will popup. Select "Change Plan Settings".

3. From there you can easily customize when you are going to set the monitor to be off as well as the computer sleep option. I just simply set to "never". Don't forget to save your changes.
