Redsn0w 0.9.7b5 available for download – Bluetooth issues fixed

Posted: 09 Jan 2011 03:54 PM PST

Redsn0w 0.9.7b5 (beta 5) for untethered iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak is finally released by the Dev Team, fixing the bluetooth problem and any sandbox issues. In order to untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1 using Redsn0w 0.9.7b5, you need to have iOS 4.2 beta 3 IPSW and a 4.2 beta 3 SHSH.

We previously reported about the Redsn0w 0.9.7b5 that supposed to be available for Windows users. Unfortunately, it cannot be realized in this beta release due to jailbreaking process that takes ages to complete and the Dev team is still working out the solution to speed up the process. It's important to note that Redsn0w 0.9.7b5 for Windows platform does exists; they just need more time to figure out the solution.

Here what the Dev team said about the latest Redsn0w 0.9.7 update.

The fifth beta is now available (testers ONLY please!). Bluetooth is now working (and any sandbox-related issues should be resolved too). Please do not pirate the 4.2b3 IPSW! Only those enrolled in the iPhone Developerprogram have legitimate access to that IPSW using these links (the links won't work unless you're a legit developer currently logged in).

There is actually a Windows version of beta5, but it's excruciatingly slow compared to the Mac version because it's forced to use files on your hard drive instead of RAM while it's processing the very large IPSW images. It really is very very painfully slow, so we probably won't be releasing it for testing purposes unless it can be sped up somehow.

How to untethered jailbreak iOS 4.2.1 by using Redsn0w 0.9.7b5?

You can follow the step-by-step guide but skip step 4.

Enjoy your untethered jailbreak!
